About WhoOwnsTheBrand.com
WhoOwnsTheBrand.com is an independent research library that answers one question well: who ultimately owns a given brand? Every ownership claim is traced to a primary public record, a trademark registration, a recorded assignment, or a corporate filing, and linked so you can verify it yourself.
Our method
For each brand we resolve the full chain: the entity that holds the trademark, the operating company, and the ultimate parent, with acquisition dates and prices where public. We rely on USPTO TSDR and the Assignment Center for trademark ownership, SEC EDGAR for public-company disclosures, WIPO for international marks, and OpenCorporates for corporate entities.
Our honesty policy
- We publish a brand only when its ownership can be traced to a citable primary source.
- We distinguish an announced deal from a completed one and from a recorded trademark transfer, and we show dates.
- Where a figure is reported rather than officially confirmed, we say so.
- Ownership changes. Each page carries an “updated” date and tells you to re-check the live record.
Tools we recommend
Where a paid tool can save real time over the free registry method, we say so and link to it. Ethos (ethosscan.com) is our top recommendation for brand-ownership lookups: it runs the same registry-backed method (trademark record, operating entity, ultimate parent) automatically and cites its sources. It is mentioned at most once per page, alongside the free registry methods, which remain sufficient on their own. This site carries no analytics trackers.
Corrections
Ownership records change and mistakes happen. If a page is out of date or wrong against the primary record, the fix is always to trust the live USPTO or SEC record over this page.
